Coach Reiland is entering his twelfth year as head coach at Iowa City West High School...he has accumulated a 247-30 record in his years at West... prior to this time he was the head coach at Solon High School for two years and an assistant coach at Iowa City West for five years... has had ninety wrestlers from West High qualify for the state tournament, with eightteen champions, ten runner-ups, nine third place finisher, six fourth place finishers, six fifth place finishers, four sixth place finishers, one seventh place finisher, and one eight place finisher ...while under Coach Reiland, West High has won four State Dual Meet titles and two traditional state title...also under Reiland's tenure West High has finished second (four times), third (twice), fourth (twice), and seventh at the traditional state tournament, placed second (three times) and third at the dual meet state tournament, won the MVC Conference Tournament eight times, and won the Division Dual Meet title in the MVC nine times...Coach Reiland and his staff were named Coaches of the Year in the conference '01, 07' and '10 and were also named the Southeast Iowa District 3A Coaches of the Year in five times... has a career record of 272-42-1 in his thirteen years as head coach...Coach Reiland's 2008-09 team finished the season ranked #39 nationally according to Amateur Wrestling News, 2007-08 team finished the season ranked #8 nationally according to Wrestling USA Magazine and #9 nationally according to Amateur Wrestling News, his 2006-07 team finished ranked #14 nationally according to AWN, #13 according to WIN, and #11 according to WUSA...is in his eigth year as the State Chairman of the Iowa Wrestling Federation and has served five years as the Junior Director of the IWF...is the co-chairman of the Coaches Council Executive Committee of USA Wrestling, serves on the Junior Division Executive Committee, serves on the Junior Olympic Wrestling Committee, and serves on the USA Wrestling Board of Directors and the BOD Executive Committee...as a wrestler, Reiland was a NCAA champion and a two-time All-American while attending the University of Iowa...won two state titles and was a four-time state place winner while attending Eagle Grove High School...won two Espoir Greco Roman National Titles and finished first and second in freestyle...member of the 1988 Espoir Greco Roman World Team and the 1986 Junior Greco Roman World Team...won Junior National titles in 1987 in both Freestyle and Greco Roman...Coach Reiland has been married for eleven years to his wife Michele.

Chad Beatty
Coach Chad Beatty is in his first year at Iowa City West since
graduating from Wilton in 2005. He will be the assisntant coach this
season for the Trojans. Coach Beatty also coached the varsity football
team for the Wilton Beavers this fall. Beatty joins the staff after
graduating from the University of Iowa in the spring of 2010 with a BFA
Degree in 3D Design. As a collegiate athlete coach Beatty was a
two-time NCAA qualifier at 197 pounds and posted a 50-25 career record
from 2006-2010. Beatty was a member of three NCAA and Big Ten champion
Iowa teams.He is a two time winner of the Mike J. McGivern award, which
is annually presented to the team's most courageous wrestler (2007 and
2010). In 2006 coach Beatty won a Jr. FILA, Freestyle National
Championship at 84kg while competing as an unattached, redshirt
freshman. As a prep Beatty was a three-time state place winner with a
5th place finish at 125 pounds and two state championships at 171
pounds. A career record of 109-7 including two undefeated seasons and
45 pins. Beatty set school records for most takedowns in a season (174)
and career (388), most match points in a season (465) and career
(1,173), and most technical falls in a season (10) and career (22).
Coach Beatty was also a three-time first team all-district and two-time
all-state linebaker/running back in football for the Beavers.
Coach Beatty is currently a Graphic Artist in Williamsburg and resides
in Iowa City with his beautiful girl-friend Michelle and their puppy dog
Jude.

Coach Gast is in his tenth year as the sophomore coach at Iowa City West High School led the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 fresh/soph squads to back-to-back MVC conference championships joined the high school staff after spending one year as Northwest Junior High wrestling coach coached Northwest Junior High football for eight years as a collegiate athlete, wrestled for Luther College as a prep athlete, was a state qualifier for Osage High School member of two state dual championships teams and third place team at state traditional tournament Coach Gast is currently a Business Education instructor at Iowa City West High School resides in Durant, Iowa with his wife, Kristina, and their sons Ethan and Colby.

Travis Meade
Coach Meade is in his first year at Iowa City West since graduating from West in 2005. He will be the co-freshmen head coach this season. Coach Meade also coached the varsity football team for the Trojans this fall. Meade joins the staff after graduating from the University of Iowa in the spring of 2010 with a Bachelors Degree in Education ….. As a collegiate athlete coach Meade played offensive and defensive lines for the Hawks. Meade started 7 games at offensive line in the '06-'07 seasons before injuries sidelined him. Coach Mead is a 2-time letter winner at the University and was Academic All-Big Ten as a senior. Coach Meade finished his career with the Hawks with a BCS bowl win in the Orange Bowl last January. His senior season the Hawks finished 11-2 and ranked 7th nationally… As a prep Meade was a 2-time All-State selection on the offensive line while playing for the Trojans. As a wrestler he placed 5th as a sophomore, 5th as a junior, and as a senior and ended his senior season with a state championship in 2005. Coach Meade was the last wrestler to receive a state championship medal in the "Barn". Coach Meade currently sits 16th all-time in wins as a Trojan with a record of 114-28…. Coach Meade is currently a sixth grade teacher at Lucas Elementary in Iowa City.

Coach Burke is in his fourth year at Iowa City West and will serve as an assisstant coach with the varsity team. During his first year he served as volunteer assistant coach with the varsity team as well as North Central Junior High School coach… joined the Trojan wrestling staff after spending two years as an assistant varsity coach at Cedar Falls High School…as a collegiate athlete, wrestled for the University of Northern Iowa…as a prep athlete wrestled for Crestwood High School…Coach Burke obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Northern Iowa…Coach Burke is a Marketing Representative for Federated Insurance…resides in North Liberty with his wife Jenn.

Coach Reiland is in his third year with the West High wrestling program with a majority of his time being spent as a volunteer varsity coach……Last season he coached at Northwest Junior High. As a collegiate athlete, he played baseball for Campbell University. As a prep athlete he wrestled for Eagle Grove High School. Coach Reiland completed his undergraduate degree in 2007 from the University of Northern Iowa. He currently works and resides in Coralville where he manages 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment.

Jeff McGinness
Jeff McGinness is a native of Iowa City, Iowa and is one of only four undefeated 4-time Iowa high school state wrestling champions. In highschool Jeff posted a 172-0 record with 111 falls. He was a cadet and junior national champ. In 1992 Jeff won a junior world championship and was named outstanding wrestler at junior worlds. He was named to multiple "dream teams," including the Asics All-Amercian Team. Upon graduation from high school, Jeff owned every City High wrestling record. Jeff went on to wrestle for the University of Iowa where he was a captain of the wrestling team, becoming a two-time NCAA champion under Coach Dan Gable. His senior hear he was named team MVP, awarded the team sacrifice award, and named the outstanding wrestler of the Big Ten tournament. Although being ranked on the Olympic ladder for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Jeff elected to hang up his wrestling shoes and focus on his graduate studies at the University of Iowa College of Law. Jeff graduated in 2001 with distinction. Jeff is currently a attorney/partner in the Cedar Rapids office of Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC, where he has practiced since 2007. Jeff runs West High's off-season freestyle/greco club and helps coach the youth wrestling program. He also does invidual training with a number of wrestlers.
